Design For Disassembly

I think design for disassembly is an important piece. Because when you look at being able to reuse materials. If some product stops functioning. Well, first of all, can you just replace a part? Replace a component? That’s a really good answer, right? I mean, just a simple idea is, “Oh, the battery isn’t charging anymore. Let’s get a new battery.”

But there’s other examples of other parts that might fail. And that’s also where something like 3D printing can be a fantastic solution. Because you’ve got this product, and then this one stupid little part broke, and otherwise the thing works. Well, if you’ve got the software that’s got the designs in. And then you go print up a new part and pop it in. And then you’re as good as new!

But also, when the product is no longer usable, it can be disassembled into individual parts, individual components, individual types of materials that can find a new use somewhere.
