Commercializing Creative Ideas

I think the commercialization step for me  is where I would say my expertise and sort of superpowers are. I like to think of myself as really skilled at being able to take really creative ideas and really complex technical things and get them across the finish line to the commercial team to build a product.

Nothing happens if you have the coolest idea and the greatest technology in the world, if you can’t figure out a way to bring it to the market in something that somebody wants to purchase. However, somebody really smart who understands that doesn’t do a good job of telling the consumer and telling our customers, in some cases that’s a wholesale customer or a sales rep.

I do a really good job of using analogies and real-world sort of examples to explain that to people. And I think that’s one of the things I’ve leveraged really hard in the last three years of my career.

…And a decent ability to not make an ass of myself on a stage at a sales meeting or a customer facing presentation. I think that’s a skillset that really good, advanced concepts people don’t always have.
