Measuring the externalities is critical. And I think it’s part of something that we advocate for very strongly in the book, which is that leaders need to be the ones who really understand – who take the time to understand how value is created by their team.
You really have to understand that you don’t get to do the crib notes version. You’ve got to understand how your team creates value, and included in that should be how it creates waste or externalities and how it is measured and managed as well.
