We were doing a lot of consulting work around innovation for big software firms. And when we will look back to the electrification of utilities – that took a generation. It took the old power plant managers – because every factory used to have its own power source, whether it was a water wheel or a steam plant or whatever…
Right?
They had their own power plant. The folks who ran those internal power plants would look at the utilities and say, “What? No, we’re not going to tie into your grid. That’s insane. Well lose all control, and we’ll lose all my guys. We’re not going to tie into your grid, maybe as a backup, but we don’t even want to allow that.”
So it took 30 plus years for all those folks to die basically to get to the new grid model.
So we just have to be aware that this stuff takes time.
