And he showed up at his very first shareholder meeting and they said, yay, Paul O’Neill, what are you going to do to to make this awesome again?
And he said we’re going to focus on one thing. We’re going to have a non-arguable goal. And everyone’s thinking money, money, money.
And he says we’re going to focus on worker safety and that is going to drive excellence across our company. And quite literally, people walked out the back door and sold stock because they thought, who’s this Jack wagon?
What he recognized is that. You know, there’s going to be a lot of things I’m going to say, like how you, how you do anything is how you do everything.
How you treat anyone is how you treat every everyone. These are things other people have said that are smarter than me. And he recognized that in an organization, if you’re not treating your employees well, you’re going to have a lot of other problems and you can measure that.
It’s a culture problem.
