The Hero’s Journey Explained

Transcript:

And there was a scholar named Joseph Campbell that wrote this fabulous book, I think back in the ’50s, about the hero’s journey. And his point was that universally, throughout the whole planet, all the cultures have this idea of a hero that leaves home, goes out on a journey, finds a boon, finds something valuable and brings it back.

That’s a kind of a very summary thing of a big thick book. But we all go through that. The reason those stories persist is we go through that we all have to leave home in some way psychologically, physically, yes, you left home, you left England.

Umm I left my home in the Midwest. But psychologically, you leave your parents, you leave the maybe the church you grew up with, the culture you grew up, whatever you leave, and then you go get something and bring it back.
