It’s the way the ecosystem works. All ecosystems are a competition for resources. Whether you are lichen at the top of a mountain or fish on the reef, you know it’s a rough-and-tumble world out there.
And there are benefits to that, right? Because where you don’t have competition, you end up with bloated, inefficient systems. And nature doesn’t like that. So we just look into nature and we know nature likes regeneration of resources, and renewing it, and in efficiency.
