Chad brings hands-on experience developing education programs covering risk management, staff development, marketing, program management, administration, planning, technical knowledge and effective communication to The Globally Conscious Leader®.

Dr. Chad Thatcher is an associate professor at Southern Oregon University in the Outdoor Adventure Leadership department. His passion centers around exploration and helping others discover their inner explorer.

He is an accomplished international guide, educator, and administrator of outdoor, experiential, and adventure education for over 30 years. He has an extensive background in developing and implementing interdisciplinary curriculum that incorporates adventure, international, sustainable and academic components. He brings hands-on experience with conceiving and building adventure education programs from the ground up through curriculum development, risk management, staff development, marketing, program management, administration, planning, technical knowledge and effective communication. 

Chad’s primary research focuses on the concept of emotional intelligence, particularly the unique intrapersonal, interpersonal and technical insights gained on expeditions and how these insights can prepare our minds to maximize serendipity within our lives.
